The early part of my teaching career was spent delivering examination-based courses to young people within the 14-19 age range. In recent years I have been working as a Head of School at a successful Norfolk Academy, with leadership and management responsibility for a cross phase transition project that delivered a range of core national curriculum subjects in a personalised and integrated approach. It was this most recent experience and understanding of the true nature of personalised learning that inspired me to explore the possibility of becoming the Head of Education at Avocet House. I am a firm believer that learning is a personal and individual process and I am passionate about educational experiences that are bespoke and promote lifelong learners.
The ‘no limits’ philosophy to learning at Avocet House is infectious and ignites a passion and common ground in our adults and young people alike. This passion for learning, the holistic nature of the work we conduct, and the constant striving for improvement and development in educational practice, was an inescapable message that struck me from the moment I first visited.
I am excited to be leading the continued development of education at Avocet House and to work with such a talented and forward thinking group of educational professionals. Most importantly, it is a privilege to work with our young people, to watch them grow, develop and mature into successful young adults that play a full and successful role in society.
