A Special Place to Work

We don’t run ordinary children’s homes. We don’t run ordinary residential special schools. We want extraordinary people to work for us. Do you want the challenge and the privilege of being the positive turning point in a child’s life? We are seeking inspirational adults who are in harmony with our view of learning as a life long issue, who believe in the capacity of children to learn and grow despite their life circumstances, who see learning in its widest sense and can be creative, innovative and think outside the box in order to re-awaken excitement and enthusiasm in children. We want high quality professionals who would bring creative approaches to helping children reconnect with learning and manage their behaviour and are committed to excellence in personalisation. We require people who can connect with our “no limits” philosophy and share our passion, vision and belief about rescuing children and their families. Although the roles use conventional labels we are one integrated team.

DEPUTY CARE MANAGER with Specialist Education Services

£25,295 to £27,905 (depending on experience) plus sleeping in bonus as per rota

We are looking for a Deputy Care Manager to join our team on a full time permanent basis.

The Deputy Care Manager is an important management role, leading the home’s operation during any period of duty management and holding case co-ordinating responsibility.  The person appointed to this role will play a pivotal part in consolidating and developing care practice within Specialist Education Services.

The successful candidate will be one of our team of 5 DCMs supporting the Registered Manager and Head of Care.  Our DCMs lead shift teams, hold casework co-ordination roles for key children, support individual team members’ professional development and deputise for the Registered Manager whilst acting as duty senior.

Applicants must have a Level 3 Diploma (Residential Childcare or equivalent).  We welcome candidates with ambition as well as experience and we will train all our DCM team to Diploma Level 5.  In addition candidates must have experience of working with children with social, emotional and mental health complexities, and leading in a residential setting.

Some of our previous Deputy Care Managers have gained internal promotion to Head of Care and Registered Manager positions or have gained external promotion based on their experience with us.

This is a great opportunity for someone within a social work, health or educational environment who wishes to extend their experience, or for those who aspire to the management role as the next stage in their development.

Your current post may have contractual obligations to repay training costs for diplomas or other significant courses if you leave. We value that experience and therefore if you were successful in securing a role with us we would relieve you of that obligation to your current employer and meet those costs.

If you are interested then please contact us on 01508 549320 or go to our Contact page to request an application pack.

CARE WORKER with Specialist Education Services

£18,065 to £19,171 (depending on experience) plus sleeping in bonus as per rota.

We are looking for Care Workers to join our teams at our inspiring combined residential and educational settings; Avocet House (near Loddon) and Turnstone House (near Beccles) on a full-time permanent basis. Each home can accommodate up to 8 children, all with social, emotional and mental health complexities.

You don’t need to have any care qualifications to apply for a Care Worker position with us, you just need to have the desire to improve the lives of our children and to be part of a team that aspires to give them a better chance of having a happy and fulfilling future. You will work to provide a family environment, nurturing and educating children in life skills and their personal, social and emotional development.

You will need to be qualified in English Language or Literacy to a Level 1 standard and hold a full UK driving licence. Staff working in a residential setting are required to complete a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare, you will be supported with this to ensure it has been completed within two years of employment.

Many of our care team and senior management have started their career in residential care with us, achieving promotion within our structures.

As the homes provide care and nurture for children 24 hours a day, the position involves working shifts (with occasional sleep ins). The shift pattern is over four-weeks and is based on a 37 hour week. Due to the nature of the role you will be required to have your own transport but parking is always available at both sites.  The two homes are within 3.5 miles of each other, providing great opportunities for shared professional development.

It is always worth a conversation with us if you are unsure whether this work is for you, or to get more information to help you make your decision.  If you are interested then please contact us on 01508 517000, or alternatively, visit our Contact page to request an application pack.

The closing date for completed applications is Friday 29 May.
