REGISTERED MANAGER with Specialist Education Services

Salary £32,878 to £41,675 depending on experience and qualifications.

We are seeking an inspiring Registered Manager to lead our care team at Avocet House, near Loddon.

The new Registered Manager will hold a vitally important role and will be expected to drive forward with the Principal and Head of Education in providing leadership, support and direction for the team, and champion the company’s ethos, philosophy and practice.  Supporting the successful candidate is a Head of Care and five Deputy Care Managers.

You should bring a wide range of knowledge and experience as a residential childcare practitioner with management experience and suitable qualifications.  The successful candidate will need to be approved by the appropriate statutory body.  This will require Ofsted registration in accordance with their respective timescales and conditions.

You will not be running our Children’s Home as a separate entity.  We have dual registration for our establishment as both a Residential Special School and Children’s Home.  Our holistic philosophy demands a team approach from all staff under the leadership of the Principal, the Registered Manager and the Head of Education.

Avocet House has been repeatedly graded as Outstanding by Ofsted since 2009 on full and interim social care inspections and school inspection.

You must be conversant with and in tune with our philosophy and approach which you will find explained in detail on our website.  You will need to be energetic, dedicated and resilient.

In line with the Children’s Homes regulations the successful candidate will have:

  • the L5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalents e.g. a recognised social work qualification or a professional qualification relevant to working with children at level 5 or equivalent;
  • at least two years’ experience relevant to residential care within the last five years;
  • at least one years’ experience supervising and managing professional staff.
  • a good knowledge and experience of law and practice relating to looked after children;
  • business and management skills to manage the work efficiently and effectively;
  • full driving licence and own vehicle
