Our core priority is helping young people whose start in life, through no fault of their own, has been traumatic and difficult. We achieve outcomes and results second to none within this field of work, SES is unique in respect of our approach and quality. This is born of a high investment in the development of the adult team. The children are our highest priority, therefore team development is paramount. They are symbiotic, you cannot achieve one without the other.

You do not necessarily need previous experience in this work, we are more interested in getting the right person; a person who is motivated, cares about children, is keen to progress and has integrity.  If you bring these qualities, and maybe more, we will develop you.  

Comprehensive staff support programme

You will receive a thorough induction, regular professional development and personal support meetings, a big say in your desired areas of development, support for diploma training, access to bespoke time with leading company consultants eg Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, the opportunity to attend nationally recognised training programmes. 

Experienced and inspirational leadership

The founders of SES, Jon Lees and Steve Lord already had a national reputation for excellence in leadership within the maintained sector prior to opening Avocet House. 

The uninterrupted Outstanding judgements and the outcomes for the SES children speak for themselves. At a national level Jon chaired the National Committee for leaders in SEMH (Engage in their future) and Steve chaired the Independent Children’s Home Association (ICHA). Neil Dawson the Operational Director currently sits on the CHA national executive. Vicki Collings the SES Principal, who joined the company from the start as a Deputy Care Manager has presided over thirteen Outstanding Ofsted inspection judgements.

Favourable Salaries

The pay at SES stands up to scrutiny in respect of remuneration at every level. Performance is rewarded annually irrespective of promotion opportunities.  

The top of the pay scale for a Child Care Practitioner (CCP) Link Tutor is £27,803 but colleagues are more typically earning £33,000 with sleeping in payments and overtime.  

The top of the pay scale for a CCP Personal Tutor is £29,777 but colleagues are more typically earning £36,500 with sleeping in payments and overtime.  

You will be enrolled into our company pension scheme. 

No limits career structure

If you’re keen to progress, SES could be the company for you, our career structure provides opportunities for progression to the most senior roles within the company.  Our current Principal, Deputy Principal, Registered Managers and Heads of Care have all progressed through a series of internal promotions. We look for the right person and have a strong focus on growing our own talent.  

Appraisal System

The annual appraisal system ensures good performance is recognised with increases in pay until you reach the top of your pay spine. There is even a loyalty bonus available for long serving staff who have reached the top of their pay spines. 

Recruitment Bonus

Companies spend a lot of money on recruitment, our philosophy is we would rather reward our existing staff, who individually receive £2,500 for every new recruit they introduce who secures a permanent role.

The sickness protection benefits are exceptional for the care sector (100 days full pay, 100 days half pay for established colleagues).
