Stadium Tour (the Scottish edition!)

Just when you thought the possibility of visiting more football stadiums had been exhausted, another 42 football stadiums in the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two were visited!  Well, ‘stadium’ may have been a generous title to some of them, however, this was all part of the fun and challenge.

Two adults and our football fanatic set off on this four-day trip starting with a long 6.5-hour drive to Annan Athletic. From here they visited all the stadiums in the south of Scotland, with some of the highlight stadiums including Kilmarnock and Motherwell.

Day two started off in Glasgow where all the stadiums in this area were visited, the best stadiums included Glasgow Rangers, Celtic and a quick stop at Hampden Park (Scotland’s national stadium). They then took the long, picturesque drive up the A9 to Inverness. This drive was filled with beautiful scenery, landscapes and views that were like something in a movie.  Did our young person enjoy these views? Not as much as the adults did!  When prompted to look he would give it a quick “wow” before getting back to dozing/watching videos.

On day three, there were two significant highlights as they made their way down the east coast of Scotland visiting Aberdeen, Dundee and finishing in Edinburgh. The first highlight was meeting the manager of Cove Rangers (Paul Hartley), an ex-professional player and Scotland international. Paul invited them into the ground, and they got to see the changing rooms and meet a couple of their young players who were getting ready for a training session. The second highlight was the surprise for our young person when he was shown the tickets bought prior to the trip to watch Hibernian!  He loved watching the game that night, it was filled with goals and lots of action, with our young person trying his best to sing along to their chants.

Day four involved the long drive back to Norfolk and, after a total of 1700 miles travelled over the four days, they safely returned home exhausted, but feeling very accomplished.
